Built by lifters,
for lifters.
mAI Coach started as a personal project to build the training app we wished existed: one where AI isn't a gimmick, it's the engine.
One coach for training, nutrition, and recovery, that actually knows you. Everything talks to everything, so every recommendation is built around your data, not a generic template.
The problem
Most fitness apps fall into one of two camps: dead-simple trackers that log sets and reps but offer zero intelligence, or AI-powered gimmicks that generate generic programs without knowing anything about you. Neither connects your training to your nutrition to your recovery in a meaningful way.
We wanted an app that acts like a real coach: one that knows your equipment, remembers your last session, notices when your bench has stalled, checks your sleep before suggesting intensity, and adjusts your meal plan when your weight trend changes. That app didn't exist, so we built it.
What makes it different
Everything talks to everything. Your readiness score shapes your training volume. Your volume shapes your nutrition targets. Your nutrition affects how fast you recover. A plateau on bench gets cross-referenced against your sleep debt and protein intake before the coach suggests a fix.
The AI is context-aware: it knows your profile, your gym's equipment, your last seven days of training, your injury history, and your current nutrition block. That context is what separates a recommendation from mAI Coach from a generic chatbot.

Principles
Evidence over hype
Every engine is grounded in exercise science: MEV/MRV volume landmarks, periodization, and validated readiness signals, not trends or guesswork.
Privacy by default
Your data lives on your device first. Health access is read-only and opt-in. No ads, no data selling, no third-party tracking.
Everything connected
Training, nutrition, and recovery aren't separate tabs. They inform each other so every recommendation reflects your whole picture.
How it came together
An app we wished existed
Two lifters and engineers, frustrated that no app connected training, nutrition, and recovery, started building the coach they wanted for themselves.
Intelligence that runs on-device
Recovery modeling, plateau detection, adaptive TDEE, and progression engines came first: the math that makes the coaching real.
Teaching a phone to watch your bench
A custom neural network, trained on 1,500+ labeled reps, brought real-time pose tracking and form feedback to the camera.
Native on iOS and Android
Full feature parity across both platforms, with offline-first storage and conflict-aware cloud sync keeping everything in step.
In the hands of lifters
mAI Coach is live on iOS and Android, evolving with feedback from the people who train on it every day.
Who built this
mAI Coach is an original project created by two software engineers who also happen to spend too much time in the gym.

Cole Seifert
Drives brand identity, UI/UX design, and go-to-market. Core work on the AI coaching engine, ML model training, recovery and readiness systems, cross-platform development, and community features.

Travis Whitney
Leads architecture and infrastructure across the platform. Core work on the AI coaching engine, ML form-analysis pipeline, nutrition intelligence, cross-platform development, and cloud sync.
Built with intention
Cross-Platform Native
Separate native apps for iOS and Android with full feature parity. Not a web wrapper, real native performance with platform-specific design.
On-Device Intelligence
Recovery modeling, plateau detection, volume tracking, progression, and nutrition math all run locally. Your data stays on your device first.
AI-Powered Coaching
A two-phase smart context system assembles only the relevant data for each request, keeping responses fast, focused, and personalized.
ML Form Analysis
A custom-trained neural network classifies bench-press form on-device with real-time pose estimation, trained on 1,500+ labeled rep samples.
Offline-First Sync
Local storage is always the source of truth. Cloud sync is non-blocking and conflict-aware with last-write-wins and soft-delete support.
Privacy by Design
Health integration is read-only and opt-in. No ads, no data selling, no third-party tracking. Your training data is yours.
